The 7th Annual Boatbuilders’ Show on Cape Cod
Dateline: February 10th – We’re sorry to say we will not open the show today because there is no power or heat at the hotel. Thank you for your interest, and we hope you’ll come to next year’s show: February 7-9. Our thanks to the many exhibitors who took great care to be a part of the event. Safe travels to all.
The Seventh Annual Boatbuilders’ Show on Cape Cod, “the best little boat show in the Northeast,” returns February 8-10, 2013 to the Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis.
Whether you are shopping, just looking, or just looking for a taste of summer, The Boatbuilders’ Show on Cape Cod promises a unique boating experience with accessories on display and beautifully crafted pleasure boats to whet your appetite for the summer ahead. Admission is just $5. Children under 12 are free, and there is plenty of free parking. Show hours are Friday from 2PM to 7PM, Saturday 10AM to 6PM, and Sunday 10AM to 4PM.
Over the past six years, almost 18,000 people have visited the show for the opportunity to see a large selection of unique, custom and limited-production boats in both wood and fiberglass. At this year’s show, boaters looking for something other than off-the-rack, production boats will discover more than 50 exhibitors and a large variety of custom-built sail and powerboats on display under one roof.
You will not find boats like this at the major metropolitan boat shows. “This show is full of friendly competitors building attractive small craft and custom big boats,” says Tony Davis of Arey’s Pond Boatworks, a returning exhibitor. “Potential customers can get a first-hand explanation of how the boats are built and what the details and differences are as they move from builder to builder. We have had prospective customers travel to the show from as far away as upstate New York, Maine and Connecticut.”
Boat lovers looking for the kind of craftsmanship and unique design found only on limited-production boats have few opportunities to go on board and compare workmanship and features from a variety of builders. Very much like the Maine Boatbuilders’ Show when it started years ago, this is an opportunity for smaller builders to show off their craft in a larger venue, some for the first time outside of their own shops. People who are attracted to these boats enjoy the beauty of the designs. They are often surprised to discover that they can buy exactly the boat they want, built just for them, at a price similar to that of an off-the-rack, production boat.
Visitors interested in staying at the Resort overnight can contact the hotel for a special boat show package rate of $95.00/night. The phone number for the hotel is 866-828-8259.
